The heart and hands behind Bright Horizon.
More importantly, I’m a mother
I understand, firsthand, the profound anxiety that comes with trusting someone else with your most precious treasure. I, too, hesitated to seek help, worried about uncertified care and the “what-ifs” that keep every parent awake at night. I promised myself I would only consider childcare when my daughter could speak—so she could tell me everything.
Then, in 2023, life delivered its hardest lesson. Diagnosed with breast cancer, my world shattered. Yet in that darkness, I became hyper-aware of something I had always sensed: the profound connection between what we put into and around our bodies, and our long-term health. The chemicals in our food, the toxins in our environment—they matter more than we know. Life is precious and fragile, and my purpose is to create a space that protects it from the very beginning.
Bright Horizon is more than my business; it is my promise
A promise born from a mother’s worry, refined by life’s hardest lessons, and rooted in the belief that our children deserve the purest possible start. Every fresh meal we serve, every plant-based cleaner we use, and every gentle touch we offer is a reflection of that commitment.

A Letter from Shermaine to All Parents
Dear Parents,
Before your child steps into Bright Horizon, I want you to know something important:
You do not need to be a perfect parent.
You do not need to have every routine under control, every question answered, or every worry hidden.
Some mornings will feel organised. Other mornings may begin with very little sleep, an unfinished breakfast, a crying baby, and the feeling that you are already behind before the day has even started.
We understand.
When you leave your child with us, you are not simply passing over a bag filled with milk bottles, clothes, diapers, and daily instructions.
You are entrusting us with your child’s comfort, habits, emotions, and sense of security.
That trust means everything to us.
Every baby arrives with a different personality.
Some babies settle quickly. Some need more time.
Some love being around others, while some prefer to observe quietly before joining in. Some babies sleep easily, while others need a familiar voice, a gentle touch, or a little more patience.
We do not expect every child to behave, learn, eat, or sleep in the same way.
Our role is not to rush them into becoming someone else.
Our role is to understand who they are.
We pay attention to the small moments that may seem ordinary but are deeply important.
The moment your baby reaches out to a caregiver for comfort.
The first time they sit calmly at the table.
The day they try a new food.
The little smile they give when they recognise a familiar face.
The confidence they slowly build when they realise that this is also a safe place for them.
These moments cannot be forced.
They grow through consistency, patience, and trust.
I also believe that infant care should never create distance between parents and their child.
We are not here to replace you.
You will always be your child’s safest and most important person.
We are here to support you.
To continue the care, routines, and values you have created at home while giving your child another environment where they can feel loved and secure.
That is why communication matters so much to us.
We want to know how your child slept the night before, whether they are trying a new food, if something has changed at home, or if there is anything you are worried about.
There is no concern too small when it comes to your baby.
At the same time, we will always communicate honestly with you.
We will celebrate the happy progress, but we will also tell you when your child has had a difficult day, when we notice a change, or when we believe something needs your attention.
Trust is not built by saying that everything is always perfect.
Trust is built through honesty, consistency, and the confidence that we are working together for the same child.
There may be tears during the first few drop-offs.
Sometimes, the tears may come from your baby. Sometimes, they may come from you after you walk out of the door.
Both are completely normal.
Please do not feel guilty for going to work, taking care of your responsibilities, or needing support.
Allowing others to care for your child does not make your love smaller.
It means you are building a circle of trusted people around your family.
My hope is that Bright Horizon becomes part of that circle.
A place where your child feels recognised.
A place where you feel heard.
A place where caregivers and parents respect one another, communicate openly, and grow together.
Thank you for allowing us to be part of these precious early years.
We will never take your trust lightly.
Warmly,
Shermaine
